FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Some of the most frequently asked questions below from my families. See additional questions on the Family & Children page.

What if my child doesn't want their photos taken?

I’m a mum of two young boys and even my own children don’t like having their photos taken at times. It happens. I’m quite relaxed about this. I often spend time chatting to the children throughout the session, and we play some games, have some fun and normally that helps the children get over any fears of the camera.  Eventually, they don’t even notice the camera is there. Sometimes I just let the children play and take photos from a distance. Don’t let this worry you, once your children are more relaxed and ready we’ll take the shots.

When is the best time of day to plan our photo session?

I try and plan sessions either first thing in the morning or late in the day when the light is softer. Timing varies between the seasons. In the summer when the days are longer, we have more opportunity to photograph until later. I appreciate sessions later in the evening during summer may not work for younger children, so I would recommend morning shoots for toddlers and younger. This is something we can discuss together.

Where do sessions take place?

Most photo sessions take place outdoors in a place you enjoy to go as a family. This can be a park, beach or walk you enjoy. If you can’t think of a suitable place I can help recommend.

When do I need to let you know my product options?

You have plenty of time to think about this. You will have access to your private online gallery for 6 days. We will only send you the link to the gallery when you are ready to view your images. You can then let me know which product options are for you. When payment has been received for your products, your order will be placed.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our session?

It is likely this could happen! We simply re-schedule. The only time I would ask to re-schedule is when it looks like heavy rain. Dull and overcast days are fine, cold days are great for getting all wrapped up, and a little light rain is ok, we can always find shelter.

What happens if one of our family is sick on the day of the session?

If this happens we can re-schedule. As much advance warning is appreciated. If we need to re-schedule for a second time, an additional 50% of the session fee is payable.

Where do I photograph?

I photograph in locations within 30 minutes drive of Kirkintilloch. I can suggest some good locations for our outdoor session if you are looking for ideas. If you live further out, please do get in touch and we can discuss.
